Championship trio 'chase Chelsea's Nathaniel Chalobah'

Championship sides Ipswich Town, Reading and Watford are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah on loan.

Championship trio Ipswich Town, Reading and Watford have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah on loan.

The England Under-21 international tried to join Bordeaux on loan last week, but the switch was blocked by FIFA because of a rule which prevents players from turning out for three different clubs in a season.

However, he can join a Championship side on an emergency deal and that has alerted Ipswich, Reading and Watford, according to the Daily Mail.

A return to Watford would seem to be the most likely destination after Chalobah enjoyed the most successful season of his career with the Hornets in 2012-13, starting in the playoff final as Watford lost in extra time to Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea, spent the first half of this season on loan at Burnley, but failed to make an impact at the Premier League newcomers.
