Chelsea are allegedly giving consideration to changing their plans regarding the development of young defender Aaron Anselmino.

Chelsea are allegedly reconsidering how to handle the progression of young defender Aaron Anselmino.

During the summer transfer window, the Premier League giants committed to paying an alleged £15.6m to secure the services of the Boca Juniors prospect on a long-term contract.

At the time, an agreement was put in place for the 19-year-old to continue his development at the Argentine outfit until the summer of 2025.

However, according to BOLAVIP, Chelsea's hierarchy are open to the possibility of altering their plans regarding the centre-back.

Move to London quicker than expected?

The report alleges that Anselmino's performances back in his homeland have encouraged key figures behind the scenes at Chelsea to contemplate fast-tracking his transition to Europe.

Prior to sustaining a hamstring injury recently, Anselmino had featured in victories over Godoy Cruz and CA Sarmiento, making it three wins and two clean sheets from his most recent five appearances.

In total, 873 minutes have been accumulated in Liga Professional during 2024, and Boca Juniors are presumably still hoping to keep hold of Anselmino in the short term.

Nevertheless, Chelsea may be prepared to bring Anselmino to West London in January ahead of sending him out on loan to a European team.

Furthermore, with Anselmino having suffered two hamstring injuries over the past seven months, it is suggested that Chelsea may prefer to take charge of his recovery process and fitness moving forward.

Strasbourg a possibility?

Strasbourg naturally comes to mind when Chelsea give consideration to loaning out a foreign youngster given that several players have already made such a move.

Liam Rosenior's side currently possess the third-worse defensive record in Ligue 1 and Anselmino could plausibly be handed an opportunity to impress.

Chelsea may also be open to finding a new club for Caleb Wiley who has struggled to break back into Rosenior's side after injury.

Like may be the case with Deivid Washington, though, a team in a league such as Portugal's Primeira Liga could also make sense for Anselmino.
