Thibaut Courtois is said to be increasingly likely to sign a new deal with Chelsea as Real Madrid close in on the signing of Alisson Becker from Roma.

Thibaut Courtois is said to be increasingly likely to sign a new deal to remain at Chelsea beyond next season.

The 26-year-old has long been a target of Real Madrid but has also been subject of interest from the likes of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, with his current deal at Stamford Bridge due to expire in June 2019.

Last month it was reported that the Blues had decided to end talks with the Belgian over a new deal amid suggestions that he was attempting to double his wages to £200,000 a week.

According to the Evening Standard, however, the talks are now set to resume after the World Cup as Madrid instead close in on a £70m deal for Roma keeper and Liverpool target Alisson Becker.

Meanwhile, PSG are now poised to sign Gianluigi Buffon and a potential move to Liverpool would not be sanctioned by Chelsea, leaving a new deal with the Blues the most lucrative prospect for Courtois.

During his time at Chelsea, Courtois has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, while during his two-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid, he also claimed a La Liga title, the Europa League and a Copa del Rey.
