Chelsea 'make Philippe Coutinho contact'

Chelsea approach Barcelona over the possibility of signing Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to a report.

Chelsea have reportedly approached Barcelona over the possibility of signing Philippe Coutinho.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan at Bayern Munich but looks likely to return to his parent club this summer with the German champions not expected to take up their purchase option.

Barca boss Quique Setien is allegedly open to working with the Brazil international next season, but according to Sport, Chelsea are keen to bring the playmaker to Stamford Bridge.

The report claims that the Premier League giants have already been in contact with the Spanish champions to discuss a possible move ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Coutinho has posted impressive numbers during his time at Bayern, managing nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the South American scored 41 goals and 37 assists in 152 Premier League appearances for former club Liverpool.
