Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku 'open to Real Madrid move'

Romelu Lukaku is reportedly open to departing Chelsea for Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid are reportedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international has struggled during his first campaign back at Stamford Bridge, failing to fit in Thomas Tuchel's style of play and contributing just 12 goals in all competitions.

While all parties are likely to be open to a transfer during the summer, the situation is complicated by Chelsea shelling out £97.5m on his signature.

Nevertheless, according to Defensa Central, the 28-year-old is on the radar of Los Blancos as they contemplate alternatives to Erling Braut Haaland.

Although Kylian Mbappe could leave Paris Saint-Germain for the Santiago Bernabeu, Real president Florentino Perez is said to want another 'number nine' to compete with Karim Benzema.

At the same time, it is suggested that Perez is not necessarily totally convinced by Lukaku, even if he fits the bill in terms of being a proven frontman.

Chelsea are unable to hold any formal talks regarding Lukaku's potential sale until a takeover of the club has been completed.
