Manchester City 'to battle Chelsea for Ben Chilwell'

Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell emerges as a summer transfer target for Manchester City, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly preparing to rival Chelsea for the signature of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell during this summer's transfer window.

The England international is believed to be Chelsea's number one defensive target ahead of the 2019-20 campaign as they attempt to fill a problematic position on the left side of their back four.

However, according to The Telegraph, City are also interested in signing the 23-year-old this summer.

The Citizens already have Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko as options for the left-back spot, but the report claims that Chilwell has 'come into Pep Guardiola's thinking' ahead of next season.

Leicester have the defender on a contract until the summer of 2024, though, and are allegedly not prepared to discuss a deal unless they receive an offer in the region of £60m.

Chilwell has scored twice and contributed four assists in 28 appearances during the 2019-20 campaign.
