AC Milan and Chelsea are battling for the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, according to a report.

AC Milan have reportedly emerged as rivals to Chelsea for the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The Spanish international is out of contract at the end of the season and the race to sign him is heating up.

The summer arrival of Asier Illarramendi and continued links with Ilkay Gundogan have raised questions about his future at the Bernabeu, and talkSPORT believes that former Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho is preparing a Bosman swoop.

Italian champions Juventus are also thought to be in the hunt for the former Liverpool man.
