Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says that he is "not interested" in threats made by Andreas Christensen's father regarding the defender's future.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has insisted that he is "not interested" in threats made by Andreas Christensen's father that the defender will look to leave Stamford Bridge in January unless he is handed more playing time.

Christensen, 22, made 40 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea during the 2018-19 campaign.

The Denmark international has not made a single Premier League appearance for the Blues this term, however, with David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger both ahead of him in the pecking order.

Christensen's father and agent Sten Christensen has said that the Dane will look to leave Stamford Bridge at the start of 2019 unless he receives regular action over the next couple of months.

Sarri has now responded to the threat by providing an update on his plans for the centre-back.

"I am not interested in [the father's comments]. What can I say? I think that in the first part of the season David and Antonio have played very well, it is not easy to change," Sarri told reporters. "In our last six matches, Christensen has played in three matches.

"I think for his father he thinks he is not important, but for us he is important. He is very young, he has to improve, but I think he is a technical defender so is suitable for my way of football. In the future he will be able to play very often."

Chelsea will return to Premier League action at home to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.
