Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone hints that he could make a summer move for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone believes that Fernando Torres could become an important player for his side, should he be made available by Chelsea.

Torres has struggled in front of goal for the Stamford Bridge outfit since his £50m move from Liverpool, but Simeone believes that the former Atletico forward could still have an impact if he were to return to the club.

The 42-year-old told Onda Cero: "Fernando Torres is currently playing for another team. We have to wait for the season to finish and decide which of the available players could come here and do a good job.

"Fernando knows about the club's history, what it means to play here and I don't need to speak about his ability.

"We were teammates. I know how important he can be."

Torres scored 91 goals in 243 appearance in Spain before his move to Liverpool in 2007.
