Thierry Hazard: 'Chelsea winger Eden Hazard may never join Real Madrid'

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard may never join European champions Real Madrid, according to his father Thierry.

Thierry Hazard - the father of Chelsea winger Eden - has suggested that his son may never sign for Real Madrid.

The European champions have been frequently linked with a move for the Belgium international, who has less than two years remaining on his contract.

Hazard has opted to remain at Stamford Bridge for at least one more season after the arrival of new head coach Maurizio Sarri, and his father has claimed that a future move to the Bernabeu may not materialise.

Thierry is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I cannot say why it did not go through. Not because I do not want to but because I do not know.

"Next year, Eden will have one year left on his contract but perhaps he never ends up in Madrid."

Hazard could make his first start of the season when Chelsea face Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.
