Alan Pardew talks up Crystal Palace performance

Alan Pardew hails his Crystal Palace side after the 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has praised his side and the individual performances of Yohan Cabaye and goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey after the victory over Southampton on Saturday.

Cabaye scored the only goal of the game in the first half as the Eagles beat the Saints 1-0 to move up to sixth in the Premier League table.

Pardew hailed his "exciting team" and said that his side should possibly have won an exciting encounter by a wider margin.

"We are exciting, we go forward, we commit players forward," he told BBC Sport. "First half, we were the better team and maybe we should have had two goals.

"The second half we started well, [but] we did not score and then had to work hard. Our spirit was great and we saw a midfield masterclass from Yohan Cabaye.

"Our goalie Wayne Hennessey made two world-class saves today - the one at the end was the most important. That was the only mistake we made in the whole game."

Pardew has now led high-flying Palace to eight wins from their first 16 league matches of the season.
