Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson claims that "belief is growing" at Selhurst Park, despite the club sitting five points adrift of safety in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has claimed that his side are growing in confidence, despite the club remaining five points adrift of safety in the Premier League table.

Hodgson has won just one of his five league games in charge of Palace, while the Eagles succumbed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Bristol City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

However, the former England boss has suggested that he is happy that improvements have been made since he replaced Frank de Boer last month.

The 70-year-old told reporters: "I think there is a belief, a faith in what we're trying to do as a team and the methods being used. That belief is growing.

"For me, every game's a must-win game. Even if we climb out of the relegation zone, we'll be wanting to win to climb the table.

"The fans are very much a 12th man at Selhurst and support us away. They made their voices heard at St James' and that isn't easy."

Palace play host to West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
