Crystal Palace looking at Fabricio Coloccini?

Crystal Palace are exploring the possibility of signing Newcastle United skipper Fabricio Coloccini, according to a report.

Crystal Palace are reportedly weighing up a move for Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini.

The 33-year-old defender worked with Palace boss Alan Pardew during his spell as Newcastle manager.

There has been speculation mounting over Coloccini's captaincy of the Magpies, although head coach Steve McClaren has reiterated that the Argentine will wear the armband for now.

Pardew is said to be looking to strengthen his defensive options at Selhurst Park, with recent reports stating that the Eagles are looking to sign Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams.

According to ESPN, Coloccini is on Pardew's radar as he would be a cheaper alternative to Williams.

Coloccini has made 247 appearances for Newcastle since joining them from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008.
