Paul Dickov left disappointed with Bristol City draw

Paul Dickov admits to being left feeling 'disappointed' following his side's 1-1 draw against Bristol City, but praises his "outstanding" players.

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has admitted that his side's 1-1 draw against Bristol City in the FA Cup this afternoon "feels like a defeat".

Matt Smith cancelled out Luke McCullough's earlier opener for Rovers 15 minutes from time at Ashton Gate to rescue the hosts a replay.

Substitute Kyle Bennett squandered a glorious chance to win the tie for his side late on, firing over the bar following a goalmouth scramble.

"It's disappointing to concede late in the game and it feels like a defeat after going so close to winning the match," Dickov is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"But we are pleased with our performance overall against a team at the top of the League and we are not out of the tie by any means. Our away record is fantastic and we won't be lacking confidence when we go there for the replay.

"We should have won the game because we caused more problems for them than they did for us. Kyle had a great chance to win the match when he would have scored nine times out of 10 and our attitude and application overall was outstanding ".

Next up for Donny is a trip to face Oldham Athletic in League One.
