Miller hit a hat-trick against Hamilton on Wednesday.

Kenny Miller looks like he could play on for another five years, according to Dundee team-mate Paul McGowan.

Miller turns 39 before Christmas but he has delivered the perfect response to critics who claimed he was past it.

The former Rangers and Celtic striker has scored five goals in three matches to help Dundee go on an unbeaten run, culminating in a hat-trick against Hamilton on Wednesday.

Miller now faces up to Rangers on Sunday and McGowan is in no doubt that the forward can cause his old club problems.

"It's incredible what he's doing at 38, 39 in a few weeks," the midfielder said. "It's remarkable.  If you didn't know who he was you would think he was nowhere near that age or coming towards the end of his career.

"He could still play on for another four or five years the way he has been playing.

"He's been brilliant, I love playing with him. He is bright, everything we need. For the young players coming through, he is a great role model.

"The way he goes about his business is testament to him, because a lot of people might write him off at his age, but watching the video of Wednesday's game, his stats are through the roof.

"So I'm happy he is here and I hope he can keep banging in the goals for us."

Dundee remained bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership after Wednesday's win and McGowan knows they need to deliver a peak performance as Rangers bid to bounce back from midweek defeat by Aberdeen.

"It will take a massive performance," the 31-year-old said. "I've seen a lot of Rangers on the TV this season and they have been very good.

"Steven Gerrard has come in and given the place a lift. They battered us at Ibrox 4-0 and we were miles off it.

"Losing on Wednesday, they will be hurting from that. It's going to be tough and if we're not anywhere near our best, its going to be a tough afternoon for us."
