Preview: Eastleigh vs. Solihull Moors - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's National League clash between Eastleigh and Solihull Moors, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Eastleigh will look to claim a third consecutive victory when they welcome Solihull Moors to the Silverlake Stadium on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be targeting back-to-back wins after recording a narrow win over Maidenhead United at the weekend.

Match preview

Eastleigh have made an impressive start to Kelvin Davis's first full season in charge, kicking off the campaign with back-to-back victories.

They got up and running with a 2-0 away win over Maidenhead United, before they emerged victorious from Saturday's six-goal affair against Fylde.

A Paul McCallum brace as well as goals from Jake Taylor and Chris Maguire fired Eastleigh to a 4-2 win in their first home match of the season.

Eastleigh are just one of three teams who have started the National League campaign with consecutive wins, and they will be determined to maintain their 100% record when they face Solihull on Tuesday.

However, that may be easier said than done because the Spitfires have failed to beat Solihull in their last eight competitive meetings (D5, L3).

Solihull are still competing in the fifth tier of English football after they fell agonisingly short of promotion last summer.

They finished the 2023-24 campaign in fifth position, before they went on to beat Halifax Town and Barnet to seal their spot in the playoff.

However, they ultimately came up just short in the Wembley final, experiencing a penalty-shootout defeat at the hands of Bromley.

Solihull's latest bid to win promotion to the EFL began with a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Fylde, before they bounced back with a narrow 2-1 victory over Maidenhead United thanks to an own goal and a Tahvon Campbell effort.

The Moors will now turn their focus to their midweek trip to the Silverlake Stadium, and while they are unbeaten in eight head-to-head matches, they have not won an away game against Eastleigh since August 2018.

Team News

Eastleigh defender Ludwig Francillette is unavailable after being sent off in the closing stages of Saturday's win.

With Francilette suspended, Corey Panter could be brought into the side to feature in a back three with Richard Brindley and Niall Maher.

McCallum will be looking to produce the sort of performance that saw him net a hat-trick in February's meeting with Solihull Moors.

As for the visitors, midfielder Joss Labadie is set to return to the starting lineup after serving a one-match suspension.

Conor Wilkinson made his debut as a substitute at the weekend, and the new addition may have to settle for more minutes off the bench on Tuesday.

Eastleigh possible starting lineup:
McDonnell; Brindley, Maher, Panter; Shade, Humphries, Nwabuokei, Taylor, Vokins; McCallum, Quigley

Solihull Moors possible starting lineup:
Walker; Clarke, Whitmore, Tipton, Newton; Labadie, Bowen; Gale, Warburton, Stevens; Campbell

SM words green background

We say: Eastleigh 2-2 Solihull Moors

Eastleigh may have won their first two matches, but they have failed to win any of their last eight competitive meetings with Solihull.

The last three head-to-head matches have finish all square, and we think that Tuesday's contest will produce a familiar result.
