Thomas Schaaf promises attacking football at Eintracht Frankfurt

Thomas Schaaf hopes that an attacking philosophy will bring success for his reign at Eintracht Frankfurt.

New Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Thomas Schaaf has insisted that the way to successful results in the Bundesliga is to play attractive, attacking football.

Schaaf said that he would ensure that his Frankfurt side must find the right balance between defence and attack, but is keen to ensure that his players still find enjoyment from their style.

"On the one condition that people enjoy the things we are doing on a day-to-day basis, then yes [attacking football is important]," he told Bundesliga.com. "Training should be a pleasure every single day as that gives you a greater identity.

"Of course the results of our efforts should look as good as possible, but they must also be as successful as possible too! Only offering pretty football is not enough nowadays. Playing pretty without winning is not what anybody wants to see. We've just seen that after Germany's game against Algeria at the World Cup - you need to find the right balance."

Schaaf previously coached Werder Bremen until last season.
