How Elche could line up against Real Madrid

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Elche could line up for Saturday's La Liga clash with champions Real Madrid.

Guido Carrillo bagged just his third La Liga goal of the season when he scored the winner in Elche's heroic victory over Sevilla last weekend, and Fran Escriba will likely keep the 29-year-old Argentine at the focal point of his attack this weekend.

Carrillo's strike partner Lucas Boye was a firm favourite of former Elche boss Jorge Almiron, but the centre-forward has struggled for form in recent weeks.

Regardless of current form, Escriba seems to have sensed a connection between the two Argentines and Boye is expected to retain his place in attack.

Raul Guti, who also found the back of the net against Sevilla, is another player who has been galvanised by Escriba's arrival, and the 24-year-old Zaragozan will keep his spot at the heart of the Elche midfield.

Defensive midfielder Ivan Marcone - another Elche Argentine - has gradually grown into his time at the club, having joined on loan from Boca Juniors. Shielding the defence, Marcone performs a critical role for Escriba's side.

Gonzalo and Dani Calvo have formed a good partnership in central defence and will both no doubt relish the opportunity to come up against Real Madrid's roster of fearsome attackers.

Catalan Edgar Badia is the rock of this Elche side and a talented keeper in Spain's top flight. Earlier this week, Badia addressed the press saying: "We know the potential of Madrid, but we can compete with anyone".

Elche possible starting lineup: Badia; Barragan, Gonzalo, Calvo, Josema; Morente, Guti, Marcone, Fidel; Boye, Carrillo
