David Moss: 'Mark Sampson could manage in Premier League'

Former Swansea City academy coach David Moss believes that England Women coach Mark Sampson could manage in the Premier League.

Former Swansea City academy coach David Moss has said that England Women manager Mark Sampson could manage in the Premier League in the future.

The Welshman led the Lionesses to a third-placed finish at the Women's World Cup, finishing as the best European side in the tournament.

Moss, who is now the chief scout for Celtic, told The Mirror: "A lot of clubs will have seen what such a young guy has done at that tournament and will want to speak to him.

"I don't see why we wouldn't see him in the Premier League soon. He is a fantastic manager and clearly has the ability, he just needs the opportunity.

"He started in the men's game and I'm sure Mark has aspirations to manage and work at the highest level. Garry [Monk] was captain at Swansea and plenty of people thought it was a huge risk by the club to appoint him as a manger. But look what Garry has achieved since he took charge. He has proved it's about ability, attitude and work ethic and Mark has those skill sets as well."

Sampson took charge of the national side in 2013 following Hope Powell's departure.
