England captain Steven Gerrard is adamant that the side are getting the luck they deserve at Euro 2012.
The Liverpool skipper's comments come after the Three Lions beat Ukraine 1-0 in Donetsk on Tuesday, after an incident where the co-hosts appeared to have equalised before John Terry cleared away a shot that proved to have already crossed the line.
The decision left Ukraine boss Oleg Blokhin furious but Gerrard says that his side were due the luck after Frank Lampard was the victim of a similar situation at the 2010 World Cup against Germany.
"To be successful in these tournaments you need a bit of luck," Gerrard said.
"Two years ago we didn't get the luck with Frank Lampard's shot against Germany. We had to pack our bags and go home.
"But if you keep fighting you earn your luck and we have done that with our performances in the group."
England now face Italy in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals on Sunday.
