Steven Gerrard has warned his England teammates that the quarter-final against Italy won't be an easy match.

England captain Steven Gerrard has warned his teammates that Italy will be a massive test for his side when the two meet in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals.

Wayne Rooney's header was enough to beat Ukraine 1-0 and send the Three Lions through to the knockout stages as Group D winners.

The Liverpool skipper, who was voted as man of the match, is adamant that the Italians, who finished runners-up of Group C, won't be a easy match.

"Italy is not going to be an easy game for us," the England captain said.

"People say we've avoided Spain but I don't want to underestimate the Italians. Italy isn't going to be an easy game. Spain are a fantastic team, sure, but our plan was to finish top of the group.

"Now we are just going to concentrate on our next match."

England face Italy in the last eight on Sunday.
