England manager Fabio Capello is thought to be angry with the Football Association's decision to strip John Terry of the captain's armband.
The defender was relieved of the duty for the second time in his career on Friday following his recent racism row with Anton Ferdinand.
Terry will stand trial after Euro 2012 for making alleged racist comments towards Ferdinand during a match against Queens Park Rangers in October. He denies the charge.
Capello, who did not have a say on the captaincy decision, fought for the player to stay in the role, according to The Mirror.
There is now speculation that the 31-year-old could retire from international football altogether.
