Football Association to consider Brendan Rodgers for England job?

A report claims that Brendan Rodgers will be in the running to be the next England manager if Roy Hodgson were to leave the position next summer.

The Football Association will reportedly include Brendan Rodgers on their shortlist of potential next England managers should they decide to part company with Roy Hodgson after Euro 2016.

As it stands, Hodgson's deal with the FA is due to expire at the end of that tournament and it has been suggested that the governing body have started to put plans in place for life without the 68-year-old in charge.

It is believed that the preferred replacement for Hodgson would be an Englishman, but if one cannot be identified, a homegrown manager could also be appointed, according to The Telegraph.

The report adds that those circumstances would bring Northern Irishman Rodgers, who was sacked by Liverpool at the weekend, into the equation, as well as Scot David Moyes and Spaniard Roberto Martinez.

Prior to Liverpool, 42-year-old Rodgers had stints in charge of Watford, Reading and Swansea City.
