Former England striker Gary Lineker has described John Terry's decision to retire from international football as "sensible".
Terry released a statement on Sunday announcing that he no longer wishes to be considered for England as he believes his position is untenable.
Terry is currently subject of an FA charge currently being investigated, with a personal hearing taking place this week.
Lineker took to Twitter to share his views on Terry's retirement.
He tweeted: "Whatever you think about John Terry, he always gave his absolute all on the field for England. A strong leader and great defender.
"He says FA have made his position untenable. Probably a sensible decision."
Terry earned 78 caps for England during a nine-year international career, two appearances shy of the 80 caps won by Lineker.
