The Football Association has reportedly officially offered Gareth Southgate the England job on a permanent basis after interviewing him on Monday.
The 46-year-old has become the standout candidate to take on the role after overseeing two wins and two draws during his interim stint following the sacking of Sam Allardyce.
Southgate and the FA have been negotiating a reported four-year contract worth £1.5m per year, but reports emerged earlier this week claiming that the two parties had hit a stumbling block over a break clause.
It is believed that the English governing body wants to include a clause that would allow it to sack Southgate after the 2018 World Cup.
Despite reports of a snag, The Telegraph claim that Southgate has been offered the job and an official announcement could be made on Monday.
The former Middlesbrough player has been in charge of the England Under-21s since 2013.
