Wayne Rooney expecting tough Scotland clash

Wayne Rooney believes that he and his England teammates will be given a tough time when they face Scotland in Glasgow.

England captain Wayne Rooney has backed Scotland to give his side a "tough game" when they meet in a friendly at Celtic Park on Tuesday.

The neighbouring rivals last met in August 2013 when the Three Lions secured a thrilling 3-2 win at Wembley Stadium.

Scotland have enjoyed a recent resurgence under manager Gordon Strachan and Rooney is aware that they will be eager to continue their upturn in fortunes with a win over England.

"You don't realise until you actually play [at Celtic Park] what the atmosphere is like," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"Scotland are doing well at the minute. They seem to have found a bit of form under Gordon Strachan, so we know it'll be a tough game."

Rooney won his 100th cap for England on Saturday during the team's 3-1 win over Slovenia in Euro 2016 qualifying.
