England Under-17s crowned European champions

England Under-17s win the European Championship after beating the Netherlands on penalties in the final.

England Under-17s have been crowned European champions after beating the Netherlands in a penalty shootout in the final.

Chelsea's Dominic Solanke gave the England youngsters the lead after 25 minutes, but Jari Schurrman levelled for the Dutch side shortly before half time.

With neither team able to find a winner in the second half, the tournament was decided with spot kicks, with the English side winning the shootout 4-1.

Skipper Ryan Ledson got John Peacock's side off to a strong start, slotting the first penalty home, before Freddie Woodman made a save.

Taylor Moore and Callum Cooke also found the back of the net for England before Everton's Jonjoe Kelly sealed the win in Malta.

The victory secured England's first tournament win at Under-17 level since 2010.
