Michael Carrick says that drawing with Montenegro is not a disappointing result for England.

England midfielder Michael Carrick has no doubts that his side needed a second goal during their World Cup qualifier with Montenegro on Tuesday.

The Three Lions could only manage a 1-1 draw against the group leaders in Podgorica, which has consequently left them two points behind their opponents in second place.

Carrick believes that his country should have doubled their lead when they were in the ascendancy.

"We needed a second goal, really," Carrick told Sky Sports News.

"If we'd had the second goal - and we had chances, opportunities and a good shout for a penalty.

"We knew they'd give it a go in the second half and come at us but it's still disappointing not to take the points even though a point is not so bad."

England host Moldova, Montenegro and Poland at Wembley and travel to Ukraine in their remaining Group H matches.
