Report: Hector Moreno to undergo surgery this week

A report claims that Espanyol defender Hector Moreno will have surgery on his broken tibia this week.

Espanyol defender Hector Moreno will reportedly have surgery on his broken tibia this week.

The centre-back picked up the injury during Mexico's 2-1 defeat to Netherlands in their World Cup last-16 clash on Monday.

Espanyol released a statement on Monday confirming that the highly-rated defender had suffered a fracture and would therefore require surgery.

According to AS, that will occur this week, with Moreno expected to miss at least the first four months of the 2014-15 campaign.

Before the injury, Moreno had been strongly linked with a move away from his Spanish club this summer.
