Roberto Martinez: 'Some of Dynamo Kiev's goals were incredible'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez claims that some of Dynamo Kiev's goals in their Europa League last-16 second-leg clash were "incredible".

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has downplayed his side's Europa League exit at the hands of Dynamo Kiev, claiming that some of the opposition's goals in their last-16 second-leg clash were "incredible".

The Toffees succumbed to a 5-2 defeat in Thursday's game at the Olympic Stadium, thanks in part to long-range strikes from Andriy Yarmolenko and Antunes.

Martinez told BBC Sport after the game: "A couple of times we made defensive mistakes but there was also some incredible finishing from the opposition. Some of the goals, it would be difficult to see them again in the same game.

"I agree there were instances when we could have defended better but there is not a lot you can do about goals that go right into the top corner.

"We always looked like a threat going forward and that we could score goals but the type of game it was, there were opportunities for both sides and our chances didn't go in."

Everton's exit compounds a miserable season for English sides in Europe, as not one Premier League representative has reached the quarter-finals in either the Champions League or the Europa League.
