Five-star Dynamo Kiev send Everton crashing out of Europa League

Everton crash out of the Europa League courtesy of a 5-2 defeat to Dynamo Kiev in the second leg of their last-16 clash.

Dynamo Kiev stuck five past Everton in their Europa League last-16 clash, sending England's final team in a European competition crashing out.

The home side pressurised the Everton defence immediately, with both Oleg Gusev and Antunes recording shots that failed to trouble Tim Howard in goal.

Andriy Yarmolenko opened the scoring with a stunning finish, cutting in from the right before unleashing a whipped effort into the top corner, leaving Howard helpless.

Ross Barkley almost equalised for Everton but his strike hit the post, and moments later, Howard produced a stunning save from Yarmolenko.

Romelu Lukaku's curling effort levelled matters for the Toffees, with the Belgian finding space outside the box before side-footing his strike beyond Olexandr Shovkovskiy's grasp.

Two goals in quick succession gave the home side control, with both Lukasz Teodorczyk and Miguel Veloso capitalising on poor Everton defending on both occasions.

After the break, Kiev put the game beyond Everton when Gusev made the most of another defensive mishap, squeezing his shot in off the post.

Barkley struck the woodwork again after an hour, but the home side soon made it five when Antunes' spectacular long-range strike all but sealed Kiev's place in the quarter-finals.

Phil Jagielka headed in with under 10 minutes to go, but it was merely a consolation as the Merseyside club exited the competition.
