Everton left-back Leighton Baines "physically ready" to play

Everton boss Roberto Martinez confirms that Leighton Baines is "physically ready" to play, but has not indicated whether he will feature against Bournemouth.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that Leighton Baines is "physically ready" to play, but has not confirmed whether or not the left-back will feature against Bournemouth this weekend.

The England international has not played a game this season after undergoing two ankle operations six months ago.

The 30-year-old showed signs of a comeback by scoring in a behind-closed-doors friendly a fortnight ago.

When asked about Baines's fitness in this morning's press conference, Martinez said: "Leighton is physically ready. It is just about getting his confidence back. We need to be very careful. We'll take it day by day."

The Toffees are currently seventh in the Premier League table, six points off a Champions League spot.
