Leighton Baines expected to be fit for Everton

Everton confirm that Leighton Baines should be fit for Saturday's visit of Manchester City in the Premier League.

Everton have confirmed that Leighton Baines is expected to be fit for this Saturday's visit of Manchester City in the Premier League.

The defender suffered a leg injury over the weekend during the Toffees' 2-0 defeat at Southampton.

Baines is now likely to line up for the Merseysiders when they welcome title-chasing City to Goodison Park.

"Leighton Baines is set to be fit for this weekend's game against Manchester City," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The England international was assessed over the weekend, but has reacted well to the problem, meaning he should be fit for Saturday's crunch Goodison clash."

Everton are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table.
