Leighton Baines ready for "big month"

Everton defender Leighton Baines says that his team's match against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday is vital to their chances of qualifying for Europe.

Everton defender Leighton Baines has said that his side's meeting with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday is "one of the biggest games this season".

The Toffees are currently fifth in the Premier League table and sit just one place and one point above Spurs, as they both look to earn vital points in their battle for a top-four finish.

"It's definitely one of the biggest games this season because they are one of the main teams competing for those European spots with us," he told Everton's official website.

"It's a big month for us because we have got big games away at Tottenham and Chelsea and the Cup game as well. So it's a month where we need to be at our best."

"It is important not to get too carried away with a win or a loss at this stage. There is a lot of football to be played. They are important games and you want to win them because it puts you in a stronger position come the end of the season when the crunch games do come."

Baines has made 19 appearances for Everton this season, scoring three goals in the process.
