Ramiro Funes Mori determined to keep starting spot following Everton chance

Ramiro Funes Mori is hopeful that he can hold down a starting spot after returning to the Everton XI against Manchester United at the weekend.

Ramiro Funes Mori has claimed that he will work hard to be in every one of Ronald Koeman's starting lineups after he was given a chance against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Argentine was selected ahead of captain Phil Jagielka for the game in which the Toffees nabbed a late 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Since the arrival of Ashley Williams in the summer, Funes Mori has been limited to just five Premier League starts this season, but he is hopeful that he can force his way back into Koeman's thoughts.

"It's been a while since I played," the Liverpool Echo quotes the defender as saying. "I had to wait for my chance to be a part of the team. I went in for this game and it was nice to play. I always try to do my best, on and off the pitch.

"Every time I want to be in the starting 11. For some reasons I wasn't starting but I kept my focus, kept training and I got my opportunity."

Everton are currently eighth in the league table, 10 points adrift of the top four after 14 games.
