Everton midfielder Darron Gibson jokingly asks Phil Neville to give him the captaincy when he leaves in the summer.

Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has jokingly asked Phil Neville to hand over the captain's armband on the day he announced that he will be leaving Goodison Park in the summer.

The former Manchester United player plans to move on from the Merseyside outfit at the end of the season in search of a new club.

Just hours after the news, Gibson wrote on Twitter: "Drop the armband off at mine when ur ready m8, I'm in all day!"

The Republic of Ireland international moved to Everton from United last year.
