Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard praises manager David Moyes and targets a return to European competition.

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has set his sights on a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.

The Toffees, who beat Manchester United 1-0 in their opening game, currently occupy sixth place in the table after taking six points from three matches.

Howard, 33, believes that the team have the perfect manager in charge to help them achieve their goals.

"David Moyes has a real good recipe for success," said the American. "He doesn't just bring in every good player available.

"He brings in guys who can play two positions and will also buy into the Everton way. Then he guides them along.

"He's an incredible motivator and he gets better at it every year. We now want to finish in the top six and get into Europe."

Howard has made 227 league appearances for Everton.
