Everton boss Ronald Koeman is conscious of his team becoming over-reliant on in-form Romelu Lukaku for goals this season.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has called on his players to share the goalscoring burden this season and not just rely on Romelu Lukaku, who has netted six goals in his last five appearances for the Toffees.

Lukaku, who struggled in the early part of the campaign, was once again on the scoresheet last weekend as Everton secured a point away to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Koeman has paid tribute to the qualities of the Belgian international, but is keen for his other attacking players to help out in terms of goals as the season progresses.

"Of course, you would like to have players who score more goals in your team. I think – not last week – we create enough chances to score. Only the productivity of one player is very high from Lu," Koeman told reporters.

"The players around him attacking wise need to show more productivity, but on the other hand we don't concede more than one every game. We like and need to create more. We like and need to score more goals.

"It's not more pressure for him because he knows the pressure. He is a goalscorer. He has shown that for many seasons and that is good because that is one of his best qualities. But it is always good to have more players to score with more productivity, so it's not dependent on one player."

Everton, who currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, will travel to Burnley in the league on Saturday afternoon.
