Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that he has been impressed by Gerard Deulofeu's "maturity".

The Spaniard scored the first goal and set up Romelu Lukaku for the second in the Toffees' 2-0 win over Middlesbrough in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

In the build-up to Lukaku's goal, Deulofeu did six step-overs before crossing into the box, but Martinez has claimed that he is more impressed by the winger's consistency.

"I don't get impressed [by Deulofeu's tricks] because I see that every day," the Liverpool Echo quotes Martinez as saying. "It's his maturity that impresses me.

"Two years ago when we had him first we knew he was a young man with an incredible natural talent but now although he's young in age he's very mature. He has a big role for us and he's been very consistent which is difficult for a wide player - that's what impressed me the most."

Deulofeu signed for the Merseyside outfit from Barcelona in the summer.
