Everton's Steven Pienaar ruled out of Chelsea visit

Steven Pienaar will have to sit out this Saturday's visit of Chelsea, Everton boss Roberto Martinez confirms.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Steven Pienaar will miss this weekend's Premier League clash against Chelsea.

The South African winger was forced off during Saturday's match against Arsenal and will have to sit out the Blues' visit because of a groin problem.

Striker Romelu Lukaku also picked up a knock, but Martinez is confident that the Belgian can recover in time to start against Jose Mourinho's men.

"Stevie P is going to miss the game at the weekend. He is the one that is going to take a little bit of time," said the Everton boss.

"Romelu, we will keep assessing him. He has reacted well in the 48 hours after the game.

"At the moment it is too early to know if he will be available at the weekend but I am quite positive with Rom."

Martinez also said that Darron Gibson is now fit and ready for selection.
