Samuel Eto'o 'close to Sampdoria move'

Samuel Eto'o's agent reportedly agrees a two-and-a-half-year deal with Sampdoria for the player.

Everton striker Samuel Eto'o is reportedly a step nearer to joining Sampdoria after the Italian club reached an agreement with the player's agent.

The ex-Cameroon international has been offered a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Blucerchiati as well as the possibility of joining the coaching staff at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium when his agreement expires, according to the Daily Mail.

It is thought that Eto'o was keen to return to Italy and could fly to Genoa on Monday to complete a medical.

If the veteran frontman is able to agree a deal in time, he could face former club Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.

However, Everton are not believed to have sanctioned the transfer and are still said to be discussing terms with Sampdoria.
