Roberto Martinez: 'Everton can capitalise on Ross Barkley attention'

Roberto Martinez claims that Everton's attacking players must take advantage when teams pay extra attention to Ross Barkley.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has challenged his attacking players to take centre stage when Ross Barkley is being targeted by teams.

The Spaniard believes that Barkley has earned more attention from defences this season, and he believes that his side can take advantage by making an impact in other areas.

"The opposition pay him extra attention," Martinez told reporters. "I'm not concerned about him getting that attention. I'm concerned with what we do with the extra space that should be created when he is marked by two men.

"It is a bit of a learning curve for us as a team, how to utilise that, and for him because I have been playing him in different positions, bombarding him with information to grow quickly."

Everton return to action against West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening.
