Roberto Martinez not looking to sell players in summer

Roberto Martinez insists that he is eager to keep the majority of his Everton squad ahead of the summer transfer window.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has indicated that he is not willing to let many players leave at the end of the season.

Martinez believes that the club's position means that they will not be forced to sell key members of the squad in the summer transfer window, despite losing ground on their rivals for a spot in the top four of the Premier League recently.

The Spaniard told reporters: "It's always the same question when a player is performing well. Can you keep them?

"The reality is if you are in a strong position financially as a football club you don't have to sell anyone. We have shown that. Do we want to keep players who do not want to be here? No, but that's always been the case with any squad of players.

"When I look at our squad, everyone loves representing Everton so I have no problems keeping players who have a short-term relationship with the squad."

Everton continue their league campaign against Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
