Sunday's Eredivisie predictions including Feyenoord vs. Ajax

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Eredivisie fixtures, including Feyenoord vs. Ajax.

Vitesse vs. Nijmegen (Sunday, 11.15am)

Vitesse play host to NEC on Sunday looking for the victory that they desperately require to move closer to getting out of the Eredivisie relegation zone.

In sharp contrast, the visitors begin the latest matchday just two points adrift of fifth-placed Ajax as they bid to cement a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

We say: Vitesse 1-2 NEC

Having been held in their last game, NEC are under pressure to deliver in this fixture as they bid to keep the pressure on Ajax. While we feel that the scoreline will be closer than many are anticipating, NEC should still come through this contest with three points.

Feyenoord vs. Ajax (Sunday, 1.30pm)

Feyenoord play host to Ajax on Sunday afternoon aware that only a victory will do if they wish to stay competitive in the Eredivisie title race.

At a time when the defending champions sit nine points adrift of PSV Eindhoven with six games remaining, Ajax are fifth in the standings, yet still with hope of overtaking fourth-placed AZ Alkmaar.

We say: Feyenoord 3-1 Ajax

With both teams not delivering as they would have hoped in midweek, it remains to be seen whether confidence has been knocked in either camp. Nevertheless, we still expect Feyenoord to come through this contest, in style too, with Ajax needing to throw caution to the wind.

Go Ahead Eagles vs. Almere City (Sunday, 1.30pm)

Both facing a quick turnaround after their last Eredivisie outings on Thursday, Go Ahead Eagles and Almere City will square off at De Adelaarshorst on Sunday.

The hosts snatched a point against Ajax in midweek to stay seventh in the Eredivisie table, while their visitors find themselves 12th in a run of five straight draws.

We say: Go Ahead Eagles 1-0 Almere City

Almere City have certainly shown they are tough to beat this season, particularly in their recent run despite the lack of victories, but travelling to a Go Ahead Eagles side who are gaining in confidence in the top half, we see Alex Pastoor's men falling just short in a low-scoring encounter.

Volendam vs. RKC Waalwijk (Sunday, 3.45pm)

With the run-in heating up, a key battle at the bottom end of the Eredivisie table will take place at the Kras Stadion on Sunday, as FC Volendam welcome RKC Waalwijk.

Ahead of the final six matches, the hosts find themselves rooted to the foot of the division, six behind the relegation playoff place and eight worse off than their visitors who sit just above the bottom three.

We say: FC Volendam 1-1 RKC Waalwijk

Both teams have shown their resilience in recent weeks, and we anticipate a cagey low-scoring encounter at the weekend as a result.

While a draw is certainly not sufficient for Volendam's survival hopes, we do not see them outclassing the visitors and instead see a share of the spoils as the most likely outcome.

Heerenveen vs. Utrecht (Sunday, 7.00pm)

Aiming to prevent their winless run from extending to five matches in the league, Heerenveen will welcome FC Utrecht to Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday evening for an Eredivisie clash.

De Superfriezen shared the spoils with Champions League-chasing FC Twente last time out, whereas the Cathedral Citizens were handsome victors over PEC Zwolle.

We say: Heerenveen 1-2 FC Utrecht

Apart from the 4-2 loss to Arne Slot's Feyenoord, Utrecht have been in sensational form of late and should be confident of further cementing their spot in the top eight with three points on Sunday night.

Heerenveen battled back hard to earn a point versus Twente earlier in the week, but we feel that De Superfriezen will be unable to repeat the trick at Abe Lenstra Stadion.
