Adem Ljajic hat-trick inspires Fiorentina

Adem Ljajic scores his first career hat-trick as Fiorentina beat Pescara 5-1, but the Viola miss out on a top-three finish.

Adem Ljajic's first career hat-trick inspired Fiorentina to an emphatic final-day win at Pescara on Sunday evening.

However, the 5-1 success was not enough for the Gigliati to claim third place in the Serie A table, as AC Milan secured a late victory at Siena to ensure Champions League qualification.

Ljajic broke the deadlock after a quarter of an hour, when he tapped home from close range following a low Juan Cuadrado cross.

The Serbian midfielder doubled his tally eight minutes later, as he collected a neat pass from Matias Fernandez before smashing the ball beyond goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Fernandez, who had never previously scored in Serie A, made it 3-0 with a long-range effort just before the half-hour mark.

Stevan Jovetic added his name to the scoresheet nine minutes into the second half.

Jovetic then provided a superb assist for Ljajic to bag his third of the evening moments later.

Marco Vittiglio found the net late on for Pescara, who finish the campaign bottom with a goal difference of minus 57.
