Kit Symons hopeful over Fulham job

Kit Symons hopes that Fulham's 4-0 win over Bolton Wanderers puts him in the frame for the manager's position at Craven Cottage.

Fulham caretaker boss Kit Symons is hopeful over his chances of earning the manager's job at Craven Cottage after masterminding a 4-0 win over Bolton Wanderers tonight.

The Cottagers stepped up their pursuit of Felix Magath's long-term successor recently as owner Shahid Khan hired a five-man panel to assist him in his search.

However, Symons, who has now guided Fulham to successive wins, appears to be the fans' favourite for the role after his name rang out around Craven Cottage.

"That performance and result certainly won't do me any harm," the 43-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"When I took over in I tried to galvanise the club and get everyone pulling together, and to start winning games, and on both counts it's going pretty well so far.

"It's a great feeling hearing the fans sing my name. I've had stadiums booing me before, when I played, so it's nice to have one cheering me now."

Former club captains Danny Murphy and Brian McBride were among those hired by Khan to help him identify the best candidate for the job.

Ex-Sunderland forward Niall Quinn, academy boss Huw Jennings and season-ticket holder David Daly make up the remaining members.
