Martin Jol is hopeful that Fulham captain Brede Hangeland will sign a new contract to keep him at Craven Cottage beyond the summer.
The Norwegian defender's current deal with the West London club expires at the end of this season and reports have claimed that talks have broken down between the two parties.
Cottagers boss Jol has hinted that discussions over Hangeland's future have been frustrating, but revealed he is keen to keep hold of the 31-year-old.
"It's always the same with negotiations, they are going on and hopefully something will come off," Jol told the club's official website.
Queens Park Rangers have been linked with a January move for Hangeland, who could leave Fulham for free in the summer if a new contract is not agreed.
