Poland cruise past Georgia

Poland ease past spirited Georgia in their Euro 2016 qualifier to maintain their unbeaten start in Group D.

Poland have seen off spirited Georgia 4-0 in their Euro 2016 qualifier this evening to maintain their unbeaten start in Group D.

As expected, Poland took control of the game early on and saw a lot of the ball during the opening exchanges.

The away side hit the post twice in quick succession through Arkadiusz Milik and Kamil Grosicki, before Sebastian Mila fired over with an effort from distance.

Georgia gave a good account of themselves throughout the half, however, and were unlucky not to score themselves after weathering the initial storm.

First, Jaba Kankava blasted over the bar before Aleksandr Kobakhidze sliced wide following good play from Murtaz Daushvili.

Kobakhidze was then presented with a great chance to give his side the lead following a goalmouth scramble from a corner, but he lashed at the ball from six yards and the opportunity was wasted.

After the break, Robert Lewandowski brought a ball down on his chest before volleying towards George Loria, but the Georgia keeper was there to palm the ball wide.

From the resulting corner, Kamil Glik put Poland in front with a close-range header.

The goal seemed to settle the nerves that had hindered Poland's first-half display, and the visitors took the game away from Georgia with two goals in the space of three minutes.

Grzegorz Krychowiak got his side's second with a strike following a set piece, before Mila curled in from outside the box.

Milik eventually added another with a neat finish late on as Poland went top of the group.
