Half-Time Report: Germany 0-0 Portugal

Germany dominate the opening 45 minutes against Portugal but fail to make the breakthrough in Lviv.

Portugal have frustrated Germany in the first half of the pair's Euro 2012 Group B opener.

The much-fancied Germans could have gone ahead after just two minutes when Mario Gomez's header from Jerome Boateng's swinging cross was well saved by Rui Patricio in the Portuguese goal.

That was their best chance of the opening period and, aside from a long-range effort from Lukasz Podolski, the only shot on target.

Germany have enjoyed 64 percent of possession and looked very composed on the ball, but Cristiano Ronaldo has looked a constant threat on the break for Portugal.

In the final minute of the half, Portugal almost went ahead against the run of play as Pepe struck the underside of the crossbar following a Raul Meireles corner kick.

German supporters have repeatedly thrown missiles onto the pitch and have been warned over the tannoy that continuing to do so may result in the match being abandoned.
