Preview: Goztepe SK vs. Trabzonspor - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Turkish Super Lig clash between Goztepe SK and Trabzonspor, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Both teams, level on points, will each be hoping to pull clear when Goztepe SK host Trabzonspor at Goztepe Gursel Aksel Stadi on Saturday.

However, while the visitors are entering this clash unbeaten all season, the hosts will be looking to recover from their latest defeat in the Super Lig.

Goztepe failed to find a response to Ahmed Kutucu's 19th-minute goal, as they lost 1-0 away at Eyupspor last Saturday, leaving Stanimir Stoilov's side stuck on 12 points and dropping to seventh place after the defeat, five points off the top four having played eight matches.

Having lost two of their last three matches, the hosts will hope to avoid another loss when they take on Trabzonspor, a side they have not gotten the better of in any of their last five meetings.

The Izmir-based side have lost four and drawn one of the last five installments of this fixture, while they have only won twice in the 16 times they have hosted the fixture, the most recent win happening in 2017.

However, Goztepe are yet to lose at home in the current campaign, picking up three consecutive wins after a draw in their opening home fixture, while they have scored two or more goals in each of those games.

After drawing each of their opening five fixtures, Trabzonspor have finally learned to get over the line, evidenced by two wins in their last three matches, the most recent of which was a 1-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir last Saturday.

The Black Sea Storm remain one of the three teams in the Super Lig yet to taste defeat in this campaign, alongside Galatasaray and Besiktas, a run they will hope to keep going against Goztepe.

Senol Gunes's men are currently in eighth place with 12 points, level on points with the hosts who are only ahead due to a superior goal difference.

Five points behind fourth is not where Trabzonspor would have envisaged to be after eight matches into the season, but the visitors will hope to quickly close the gap by picking up maximum points as often as possible.

However, the Black Sea Storm are yet to achieve this away from home this season, having drawn all four away matches so far, with the opening three ending in goalless draws.

Goztepe will continue to be without Kubilay Kanatsizkus, who is sidelined with an ankle injury and is not expected to return until later this month, as well as Novatus Miroshi, who is out with the same issue.

Romulo Cardoso, who has found the net four times for the visitors this season, the most by anyone in the team, will be the man to watch.

Trabzonspor have up to six players on the sidelines, including defenders Stefan Savic and Huseyin Turkmen.

Serkan Asan is out with a virus, while Enis Destan has a shoulder injury that will keep him out until later this month.

Stefano Denswil and Anthony Nwakaeme both have muscle-related injuries and are expected to be sidelined until November.

We say: Goztepe SK 1-1 Trabzonspor

Goztepe have been solid at home this season, and we believe that this home form will help them achieve a result against a Trabzonspor who seem to have found a way to win games in recent times and have shown resilience away from home, which is why we are predicting a draw.
